2. HERE for Android

HERE brings true offline maps and navigation to your Android phone. Download maps of your region or country and you’re good to go: hop in your car, take the train, or go for a walk with guidance that takes you step-by-step to your destination. With a Samsung Galaxy phone, you can also share walking and public transit routes directly to your Samsung Gear, so with just a glance you'll know where to go next.

MapFactor functions with OpenStreetMap maps that can be installed right on your Android smartphone. When you put them to use, you won’t even need internet connection. The huge advantage is that it’s free, but on the other hand, it isn’t fault-free: on occasion the maps aren’t very precise.

CoPilot GPS offers a bunch of maps for pretty much the entire planet. These are available offline and are stored right on your SD card. You can then connect the app to your various social networks, like Facebook and Twitter, in order to easily start the navigating to an event, for example. The first map is free (you can choose among a specialized list), and then CoPilot functions in license form.

Towards the end of last year, Maps.Me had its 4.99 USD entry price removed and was made available in the Play Store absolutely free! If you haven't picked this one up already, we highly recommend it, because not only is it one of the best Android map apps available, with its clear, modern UI, but it's also completely offline-friendly.
